The oldest female member of a Capital golf club has hit her first hole in one after more than 60 years of playing.

Grandmother Muriel Annan, 86, made the shot during a senior ladies' event at the Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club, Greenbank.

The grandmother-of-seven, who has a handicap of 28, said: "This is the only hole in one I've ever had. It has taken me such a long time but I'm very pleased.

"I didn't play a brilliant round - just one very good shot. It is certainly a nice accolade to have after all this time."

Mrs Annan managed to achieve the feat at the blind 11th hole at the club, which lies on the top of a steep hill.
