Bruntsfield Short Hole Golf – 26th July 2011
A week may be a long time in politics but also, apparently, a long time in short hole golf... On Tuesday 26 July, 13 members played in the Summer Medal on a dry warm evening. Following a spell of dry weather (summer has arrived at last?) the greens were mainly brown with the pre-competition description of the greens as "treacherous" (David Rintoul) being by no means an exaggeration. The returned net scores from the previous competition on 19 July averaged 106, last night, a week later, they averaged 118! This included an 8 recorded at the first hole. However, congratulations are due to Stuart Rose on winnning the Summer Medal with a net 112 (110 +2), 2 strokes less than Dave Barron and Paul Middleton.
