Bruntsfield Short Hole Golf – 5th May 2011
On a miserable evening, 13 members played in the May Medal in unrelenting, though not quite driving, rain. Despite the rain and despite casual water eventually collecting on almost all the greens, scoring on average was 8 strokes better than the first two competitions, the principal reason probably being the fact that mowing had significantly reduced the height of the grass between and around the greens.

The medal was won by your (honourable?) Secretary, Fraser Gordon, with a net 104, one shot better than Paul Middleton (96 +9 = 105). My score was certainly helped by a hole-in-one at the 24th which unfortunately I didn't see finish as I had already turned away to pick up my clubs...... I might describe my win as a great result on the night but as it turned out, it wasn't the only great result on the night.
