On a dry, bright, breezy, cool evening 21 members (the highest turnout for some time!) played in the Opening Competition; the 21 included - after a long rest, Michael Angelini, yes Michael Angelini (last competition 3 May 2007), the return after a year's absence of Tony Christie and a new member - Rob Zywietz.
The course was in good condition but dry following a prolonged spell of little or no rain (called a drought in England), the greens could not be described as receptive. Some of the pin positions were (politely) described as "interesting". Scoring was not low.
After the checking of handicaps and scores, congratulations are due to Dave Barron
, winner of the handicap competition, with a gross and net 112 and to James Morton
, winner of the scratch competition (after countback) with a gross 105. Helped no doubt by the large turnout, there were a number of tied scores (see below), one pair of these, although of no great relevance, could only be split on a countback of the last 6 holes!
